Will OPEC push oil supply to dampen $100 oil prices?
TABJ - June 2 - As the world continues to feel the pinch stemming from Libya’s oil production halt, the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) is reportedly considering upping its contribution to oil supply by as much as 1.5 million barrels per day (bpd) from its current offering of 500,000 bpd.
Sources responsible for the news leak still appear unclear, and clarification is likely to take place when the group meets on June 8, in Vienna, Austria.
According to the as yet unnamed OPEC delegate, “Oil prices are too high; $100 oil is scaring people.”
Both Brent crude and US crude futures dipped as this news emerged.
