Four protesters have mounted a drilling oil rig owned by Cairn Energy by rigging themselves from tents in protest of Cairn’s goal to create a new oil production center. The Stena Don, the drillship protestors boarded, has been drilling the well since June. Morten Nielsen, deputy chief of police in Greenland told Reuters, "Like any criminal, they can be expected to arrested and prosecuted." With the recent BP oil spill in effect, The Esperanza, Greenpeace’s ship has been nearby planning the execution of their protest against Cairn Energy’s oil activities for over a week.
