Google invests mass $280mn in solar, another mega renewable spend
TABJ - June 15 - Google’s green energy spending frenzy hit new heights when the conglomerate pledges to invest $280 million in SolarCity, a California-based rooftop solar installations firm.
“This is our largest clean energy project investment to date and brings our total invested in the clean energy sector to more than $680 million. We’ve also launched a partnership to offer SolarCity services to Googlers at a discount,” Google’s Green Business head, Rich Needham, wrote in his blog.
It is reported that this funding could allow SolarCity to provide solar residential systems for some 7,000 to 9,000 homes across the 10 states it works in.
