The world’s second largest cocoa grower is ahead of schedule, according to government officials. The country is expected to produce approximately 850,000 tonnes of cocoa this season. "Next year, we should be able to hit one million tonnes. We will look at areas which caused our shortfall and address those issues. One million is achievable next year,” said Yaw Effah-Baafi, Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture (Crops), to Reuters. Ghana has had a cocoa smuggling problem which is believed to pass through the Ivory Coast which is the world’s first cocoa producer, with Ghana coming in second.
