Germany promises increased aid to Malawi
TABJ Sep 6 - Angela Merkel, the German Chancellor has promised more monetary aid to Malawi from Germany.
According to the German Deutsche Presse Agentur (DPA) Chancellor Merkel said to President Bingu wa Mutharika, “We want to help Malawi advance in the fight on poverty and reaching the Millennium Development Goals.”
The Malawi President who was visiting Germany took time to visit Port Hamburg, North of Berlin. He also has plans on speaking with potential investors in Frankfurt for their new Nsanje World Inland Port that will shorten trade routes to Malawi.
“There are a lot of investment opportunities in the transport sector…in energy and in the health sector,” said Mutharika.
