Deadly Riots in Maputo continue
TABJ Sep 2 - Riots in Maputo, Mozambique continue today because of increased bread prices, with demonstrators covering roads with burning tires, shops being looted.
According to hospital and police sources at least six people have been killed, when police opened fire, but police officially say four have been killed, including two children.
"We registered deaths, injuries, loss of property through use of stones and shooting by police using rubber bullets. There is no order to use live bullets," Home Affairs Minister Jose Pacheco told private television STv.
Other police officials say that some police started firing real bullets when they were out of rubber ones.
"We are working on identifying the people who organised the protests and to put the blame for the deaths and injuries as well as destruction of property,” says Pacheco.
