Standard Bank launches food production scheme Africa

TABJ Sep 1 - Standard Bank has created a $100 million dollar project that that
will benefit farmers in African countries and boost agricultural growth.
Mozambique, Uganda, Ghana and Tanzania will all benefit from the new scheme. CEO
Africa Clive Tasker said to Reuters "This scheme will disburse loans to
small-holders of up to $100 million over the next three years and will
potentially benefit up to 750,000 small-scale farmers."
Tasker said increased crop production in Africa would help worldwide to diminish
poverty and aid impoverished communities.
We will help farmers with the right seeds, fertilisers, and ask them to have
crop insurance to mitigate our risks," Tasker added.
